Last Christmas, SPEM - Portuguese Society of Multiple Sclerosis, IPSS. Was victim of the theft of a car in Lisbon at its national headquarters.
This vehicle was used to support a project that led a social team ( in the area of social assistance and volunteers) to meet people in social isolation, resulting from the evolution of the disease, in motor affection; It was not an adapted vehicle but, it served for the volunteers of the group Energias Múltiplas, to carry out the project 12Months, 12 Happy People, which aims to visit (promote moments of joy) to Multiple Sclerosis patients living in Zones of the municipality of Lisbon, isolated.

SPEM - Portuguese Society of Multiple Sclerosis, IPSS. Has as its mission to contribute to the improvement of the living conditions of patients with Multiple Sclerosis and the people who live with them. In this context, SPEM develops its activity in different but complementary areas of action. On one hand, it intervenes with the public authorities , especially in the health and social areas, in order to increase the efficiency in the dissemination of pertinent information on the pathology and access to the respective therapies. On the other hand, it provides integrated and multidisciplinary support through specialist and reference services such as the Occupational Activities Center (CAO), the Neuro-rehabilitation Unit, Home Support, Psychological Consultations, the Social Information Service and Legal Counseling .
