André is a 17 year-old boy with Down syndrome (trisomy 21). Numbers aside, André has a special fondness for Photography, a fondness that makes him take his camera and capture the streets and faces he encounters. And what André finds is actually very different from any one of us would find! That’s right, André has its own special and unique way of looking at the world, something that shines through his photos.
With the help of the photographer and teacher Ângelo Lucas, he has had the opportunity to exhibit some of his work in a small school exhibition, intitled “Um olhar sobre a escola de André Ferro” (A look over the school by André Ferro), which had great success among his classmates and friends, motivating him further on his path.
This photographer and friend has offered to continue to help and teach André, but, in order to make his dream come true, André needs OUR HELP! The goal is to create an exhibition that will show his new work outside school, an exhibition that allows him to continue to devote himself to what he loves the most, that proves that not all photographers are the same (and gladly!), but that all should have equal opportunities!
We need your help so that, through his lens but not only through it, André keeps on enchanting us. We need your help so that, through his lens but not only through it, André keeps overcoming the barriers society has imposed on him!
