Emídio sufers from ALS and need to spend more time with our two boys, enjoing the summer and our beautiful island with an adapted car.
Emídio, is 33 years old and is the father of two boys, 8 years old and 11 months old. Two years ago he was diagnosed with ALS, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, a disease that quickly robbed him of independence, locomotion and speech. His routine involves traveling between home, parents' house (where he stays while his wife goes to work), hospital for routine appointments and daily therapies. At the moment the family has a car with 2 doors and small tailgate that up to the moment has been a thrashing but making it difficult and impossible to carry a simple wheelchair. Since the Emídio will move with an electric wheelchair (heavier because of the battery and also more comfortable so that it is not transferred too often throughout his routine which besides being uncomfortable, it is also painful for him .) The solution involves the purchase of a vehicle adapted for transport in a wheelchair. This type of vehicle is expensive and the family needs help to get the vehicle as soon as possible so that the Emídio, in addition to their daily routine, can also walk with their family and escape the same routine, which currently can not do. The car is valued at a final value of 29 thousand euros, but we are asking for this application only up to 15 thousand euros as we are also developing other outdoor fundraising campaigns and dinners. The objective is to collect the necessary amount as soon as possible so that the Emídio does not waste time, the time he does not have and that every day that passes is a gift to him !!!
