Fundraising campaign to create basic baskets for the families most in need in Santo Antão, Cape Verde that are being affected by the Covid-19 pandemic

Society is currently experiencing a time of crisis and many families have been affected by the pandemic.

Our campaign aims to raise funds for basic food baskets for these families.

At this moment, we have already concluded a first phase, which was the gathering of food and hygiene products by the local population, and we were able to help around 60 families in the city of Ponta do Sol, with baskets valued between € 22.57 - € 31.60 (€ 2,500) - 3 500 escudos CV) as these baskets have been adapted to the needs of each family: elderly people who live alone, with children and many.

We are now entering a second phase, so we need your help because this campaign has no connection with the state or private institutions.

About the author

We are a group of young Cape Verdeans, known in Ponta do Sol as "BDC" (name of a Cape Verdean game) consisting of 14 elements. Usually, we meet on weekends to socialize and escape the routine of day-to-day.

Following events happening in a conversation, we decided to try to help on a personal level. But, after analyzing the families that are experiencing difficulties due to the pandemic, namely, workers in the tourism sector, painters, construction workers, domestic workers and the elderly without any support, we decided to create this campaign and allow other people to help.

Budget and due dates

The goal is to raise € 500 in 3 weeks for the purchase of food and hygiene products.
