Help Kiara beat PIF

Kiara is a kitten who was diagnosed with FIP (feline infectious peritonitis). We are counting on your help to overcome PIF and complete her treatment, which is very expensive.

Kiara is a kitten with only 1 year and 11 months. She was adopted in May 2021 with just a month and a half.

Kiara came to our family at a difficult time, but her essence made everything more beautiful, thus bringing us a new shine and a new era. She has always been a cat with a lot of energy and a lot of energy and besides all this energy she has always been very affectionate.

Everything changed in January of this year, our kitten started to be quieter, sleeping most of the time and eating less. On January 13, 2023 I noticed that her eyes were a little red, but it was a very subtle thing... the next day they were clearly redder and that's when we went to the vet.

Diagnosed with a simple conjunctivitis, we went home relieved and with a few eye drops to apply daily. But everything changed quickly... in less than a week her eyes had spots and a kind of haze. We ran to the vet again and were advised to go to an ophthalmologist as soon as possible and on the same day after much searching we went to the hospital for an ophthalmology consultation. Immediately the doctor put three hypotheses: PIF, FIV or FeLV.

At that moment the world fell at our feet, until we had the final diagnosis it was very difficult days where we didn't want the worst to happen. Kiara had tested positive for toxoplasmosis, haemobartonella and after an ultrasound and blood tests FIP (feline infectious peritonitis) was confirmed.

Initially everything pointed to the fact that FIP had no cure as it was considered a fatal disease for a long time, but after researching all the possibilities we came across a treatment that, despite being in the experimental phase, had a high success rate. The treatment consists of daily injections for 84 days, but the treatment comes from outside and is very expensive.

Each bottle costs €62 and lasts about 2 and a half days, due to this cost it is impossible for us to cover the entire treatment. In addition, the treatment involves monitoring analyzes and a lot of medication, which makes everything even more expensive.

Kiara needs our help, she is currently half way through the treatment and with incredible results. He regained his eyesight, regained his weight (at the beginning of the disease he weighed just 2,900kg and currently weighs 3,650g) and regained all his energy and mischief.

Any donation is a huge help towards getting to the end of this treatment that has been bringing our little Kiara back. Although we have already raised part of the money for the treatment, we are still far from completing the 2000€.

As it is a very expensive treatment, I decided to open this fundraiser in the hope of being able to finish and win this fight against PIF.

Despite being painful for our little girl, this treatment has brought incredible results and we are not going to give up this fight now.

Budget and due dates

The treatment lasts for 84 days, starting on January 31st and ending on April 24th.

The value of the injections is at least €2000 (excluding additional medications, monitoring analyzes and possible dose increases).
