Urgent fundraiser to donate to the BOMBEIROS VOLUNTÁRIOS DO CONCELHO DE ESPINHO (which are Espinho’s local voluntary Fire Department) with the objective of helping them acquire two necessary help and rescue means in the beaches of our County.
This campaign arises following the announcement from the Chief of this Fire Department, in which he declares the cessation of the help and rescue activities in the beaches of Espinho County.
Today, the 15th June, starts another bathing season. We learned two days ago that, due to the lack of complementary help and rescue means (a 4x4 motorbike and a jet ski), this year we won’t be having the aid of the B.V.C.E. (local Fire Department) in the help and rescue activities on our beaches.
The ISN (Instituto de Socorros a Náufragos – in English, Wrecked Relief Institute) suffers from lack of means and gave no vehicle to our firefighters. The only way to revert this situation and overcome the time-consuming and bureaucratic administrative decisions is, with the help of everyone, to endow our Department with the necessary equipment, which only last year (2017) participated in 24 rescue missions.
Emergencies arise without warning and at this moment the necessary means can be required at any time!
The total budget required for this acquisition is around 30 000€. This amount was reported as necessary to not only acquire the vehicles but also the transport and assistance tools.
We consider that an online fundraiser is the most transparent way to carry out this noble fund collection but (and there’s always a but) 7% of the raised funds will be charged (5% from the website plus 2.5% in taxes).
For the safety of our beaches, for the safety of our visitors, friends and family, help those who never denied us any help and are always prepared to help and lack only the means to do so.
Because tomorrow we all may need to, help our firefighters to acquire the necessary means to help and rescue in the beaches of Espinho!
