"I'm Bianca, the jolly energetic Retriever dog. I feel sick, and I need help."
Our crossbred 2-year-old Retriever dog, Bianca, hurt her right hind leg in October 2019. She was limping for a few weeks. Our usual veterinarian at first determined that the problem should be on one of the hips (in this case, the right hind leg), and suggested an x-ray to find out the accurate cause of the problem. And prescribed anti-inflammatory and chondroprotective for 10 days. The x-ray was done, and the vet said that nothing obvious could be seen, so she would send it to a more experienced animal orthopedist.
A few days later, not even the orthopedist was able to accurately determine her problem, but it appeared that there was already an irregularity in the hip (as if it were a very early sign of hip dysplasia), and that the hypothesis that there was an injury to the ligament of the knee wasn't excluded. It has been suggested to reduce her weight (although we think she has the ideal weight for a Retriever), extend the anti-inflammatory treatment to 15 days, and give her the chondroprotector permanently to avoid surgery.
For a while she was responding well, but we still noticed symptoms, we saw that she was still in pain, certainly more severe, because she spent more time lying down (and sometimes panting), feeling rather lethargic. She's no longer eating willingly. I mentioned this to our usual vet and she said that at the moment there weren't many options other than to schedule an orthopedic appointment. The orthopedist noted that there could possibly be a rupture in a muscle ligament, but as she had some improvements, she recommended that we wait and see if her condition remains or worsens, so the hypothesis of surgery is not entirely ruled out. At that same appointment, he determined that she could have an infection because he took her temperature and she had a fever (40 ° C). Which could explain why she is so listless. She, who was usually so full of energy.
So now she's been on antibiotics and fever-lowering medication. Given that I'm the only one working, it's a big financial burden. My younger sister has been looking for her first job since 2009, and unfortunately our mother passed away on October 1st. Given the expenses that followed after that day, allied to those that we already had, our situation is now extremely complicated.
Therefore, I appeal to everyone. We want to try to do our best for her, but there is no way I can spend much more money right now. And if surgery is not entirely ruled out, it is an additional concern.

Bianca, a Retriever
