Pet from a student community house was hit by a car and it became necessary to gather support to pay damages inherent to this accident.

Hello everyone.

We are a students community house in Coimbra and we had a dog named Gandhi who was part of the family and had no owner in particular, it was all of us.

Our house was born in 1962 and since then several generations of students passed here, all living in the same principles of equality, brotherhood, complicity and above all as a family. We are the ones whom repair the house, which is already quite old and reveals several problems, for that reason our financial situation it is not going well and the money we can gather always has a destiny.

One of the goals of our money over the last year was for Gandhi expenses, who was already pretty old and had some health problems, and because he was a priority for us, we have spent close to 700€.

During this Summer holidays he ran away from the house and the worst happened, Gandhi died because he was hit by a car. Beyond of great sadness that this situation brought to all of us, we now have to pay a big ammount of money (1800€, to fix the car), which we really wish that we had, and it makes us involved in a huge problem to solve. We created this campaign in order to ask for help to everyone that could contribute with any ammount. Friends of our house, Gandhi and people who nurture the same love for animals that we cherish .Every euro is welcome.

We hope your understanding into this situation, so boring, sad and complicated for us.

Thank you.

About the author

It was back in 1962 that a group of students from the paradise islands of the Azores, created the "Republica dos Açoreanos". Nowadays any Azorean lives here, but the tradition continues, and in this way, after more than 50 years, the house is still standing thanks to the care of those who passed through here, people coming from every corner of Portugal, people from all over the world.

Our dinners together includes only a portion where each one gives a little of himself, whoever wants, can join us! The "rule" is simple: whoever gives his love to the house, never ceases to belong to it. The doors will always be open for those who wants to know us.
