A new beginning

Rehabilitate the farm using permaculture as a philosophy,producing a little bit of everything (profitably!) , with this project I intend to not only , inspire other people to come live in the countryside , but also to produce their own food!

What is the purpose of this campaign?

1. Recover the long abandoned farm and make it my permanent home.

2. Create a pilot project to secure the ones that still live in the countryside and bring more people in the future!

3. To prove through the completion of this project, that it is possible to have a decent, peaceful and prosperous life, in the countryside, applying natural ways to make the land profitable (in this case Permaculture) without resorting to large investments and using what already exists and in our favor gradually grow!

How are we going to do it?

Working on three fronts simultaneously (within possibilities) raising animals for meat, eggs, vegetables and fruit production, canning, jam, etc.!

We will use the cattle to graze in a controlled manner (in plots) and behind them we will move the chickens to sanitize the land, avoiding the summer fly plague while fertilizing the land.

The animals that we will raise (whenever possible), are Portuguese regional autochthonous breed, thus contributing to the maintenance of some species that are in danger of extinction! Eg: Galinha Pedrês, Preta Lusitana, Branca Portuguese, Amarela Portuguesa.

In the areas surrounding the house, we will produce vegetables (to sell later), for preservation, etc. We will also plant fruit trees.

The farm is for sale and I have an agreement with the owner: " if I start the project, I have 5 years of lending agreement, with the purchase to be made within the same period."

Your help will bring a light to the end of the tunnel, this light will not only bring hope to get out of surviving and finally start living life, but it will also be a dream come true! You will never be forgotten!

About the author

I am 47 years old, I was born in Angola, son of Azorean parents, I lived in the Azores Islands (Terceira) from 3 to 40, I love nature, the sea, I usually say that my religion is Nature, I am a calm, humble, passionate and dedicated man , married with 2 children, always had a backyard, was raised on the land and countryside, my first job was dealing with a farm of 13 dairy cows and beef cattle, I learned from my grandfather how to treat the land in a natural way (organic at the time, there were no chemicals in abundance like now) I have some training in biollogical agriculture and permaculture, pruning course, composting, etc.

Instead of looking at unemployment as a problem, I prefer to grab the opportunity, and do what I always wanted and kept in my mind, now is the time, gradually living within nature and my team are the 4 of us.

I aim to show people that it is possible to live in the rural world, as in every work there is sacrifice, dedication, effort, etc. in the land and field is the same way, but in my opinion outdoor and free-form life is the icing on the cake, having the pleasure of tossing a seed into the ground, and seeing its development until ready for consumption, to give us shade, to give us fruit, to feed us or animals, etc. It is magnificent and sublime! To lovers like me, I would like to be an inspiration to them, I would like to bring some people "inside" (meaning the countryside), even if it is a single family my goal will be fulfilled!
